| Leader Specific Training - Leader Specific Training courses for all Scouting adult leadership positions are offered at the district level with Cub Scout Leader Specific Training courses also being offered online. You should try to take this training within the first few months of leadership. Courses are generally offered on a quarterly basis. | BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) is a training event that introduces leaders and parents to the skills needed to plan and conduct pack outdoor activities, particularly pack camping. Check the training calendar for dates and registration. |
 | Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills - (IOLS) Outdoor skills are critical to the success of the Scouting program, and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills will provide leaders with the basic outdoor skills information needed to start a program right. Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills is the required outdoor training for all Scoutmasters, assistant Scoutmasters, and Varsity Scout coaches and Venturing Leaders. | Specific Activity Trainings - Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Climb on Safely, and Trek Safely can be taken online at MyScouting.org or in person during Boy Scout Summer Camp. Training in a specific activity is required for at least one leader in attendance at every unit campout involving that activity. | |
| Supplemental Training - MyScouting.org offers additional training for Unit Committees, Generational Diversity, District Committees, Scoutparents, Leave No Trace, Disc Golf and much more. | |
| University of Scouting - This Course is offered bi-annually by the Yocona Area Council. Much like college you will pick the classes you need the most to get your degree. The next University of Scouting has not been scheduled. | |
| Wood Badge is the premier Leadership Development Course for Scouters. This 6 day long experience takes your leadership skills to the next level. This course is held in the Yocona Area Council every two years. The next Wood Badge course is set for Spring 2020. Check back for more information. | |
| Powder Horn is a training opportunity designed to expose the Venturing or Boy Scout leaders and youth to activities and resources necessary to operate a successful Venturing Crew or Scout Troop High Adventure program.
