
The Triple Crown Award is ready for you to earn! This award is earned by registered Scouting participants who have camped at least three of our council properties within a calendar year (January 1-December 31). There are four council properties available for unit camping.
The Triple Crown Award is a camping recognition award of the council’s Order of the Arrow Lodge.
Eligibility
Those eligible include all registered Scouting participants and their family members.
Requirements
- During a calendar year (January 1—December 31) camp at least one (1) night at all three council properties. You may earn this more than once.
- Any unit (pack, troop, crew, ship), district or council activity can be counted as long as you spend the night at the council property.
- All ages of Cub Scouts can participate as part of a Pack Overnighter (see requirements Guide to Safe Scouting: Pack Overnighters). Webelos may also camp as dens.
Recognition:
Those participants (registered participants and family members) are eligible to purchase the restricted Triple Crown patch through the council Scout Shop. Proceeds support our OA Lodge.
The council’s properties
Bay Springs Scout Base
The camp is located about 30 minutes east-southeast (ESE) of Booneville, MS on a peninsula surrounded by Bay Springs Lake. Tent camping is available, and you need to bring your own water. There are no permanent facilities.
Camp Seminole
Located 10 minutes north of Starkville, Camp Seminole is a year-round resident camping facility with tent and some cabin options, as well as developed program facilities, shelters, fishing/boating lake, shooting ranges and more.
Camp Toby Tubby
Located on Sardis Lake about 20 minutes northwest of Oxford, MS. This property is surrounded by forested lands, mountain bike trails and is adjacent to the Clear Creek Landing boat ramp. Developed tent camping spots, fire rings, a pavilion with power and tables, and hot water and flush toilets are part of this facility.
Camp Yocona
Located 20 minutes west of Pontotoc, MS, Camp Yocona is a year-round resident camping facility with cabin and tent camping options, as well as developed program facilities, shelters, fishing/boating lake, shooting ranges and more.
