The Yocona Area Council recognizes
Sam Haskell as the
2011 Distinguished Citizen

The Annual Boy Scout Distinguished Citizen Dinner will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011.  For his outstanding achievements and bringing positive acclaim to the citizens of Mississippi, the Yocona Area Council is proud to recognize Sam Haskell, former World Wide Head of Television for the William Morris Agency, best selling author and producer, as its 2011 Distinguished Citizen. An Eagle Scout, Sam was recently honored by the Boy Scouts of America as one of two Distinguished Eagle Scouts for 2010 and is President of the U. S. Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Program. In addition, Sam serves as Chairman of the Miss America Organization.

Joining Sam will be his wife and former Miss Mississippi, Mary Donnelly Haskell and 2011 Miss America, Teresa Scalan. We will have the pleasure of having both Mary and Teresa provide entertainment for this special event. The evening begins with a time of fellowship beginning at 6:15 p.m. and dinner at 7:00 p.m. in the Bancorp South Convention Center in Tupelo.

The event benefits the Yocona Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, and while at the event guests will be given the opportunity to financially support scouting in our area. The event is by invitation only.  If you would like to receive information about attending the event, have any questions, or would like more information about supporting the Boy Scouts of America, please contact our Scout Executive and Dinner Advisor, Rick Chapman, at 662-842-2871.
